How Much Does a Website Really Cost in India in 2026?

Realistic price ranges for business websites in India - from DIY to custom builds - and what to watch out for so you do not overpay or under-budget.

The honest range

A professional business website in India can cost anywhere from about Rs 8,000 to Rs 1 lakh or more. The range depends on what you need: number of pages, custom design, ecommerce, integrations, content and ongoing maintenance. The most common mistake is comparing prices without comparing scope.

DIY and page builders

Wix, Squarespace or WordPress on shared hosting with a page builder. Cheapest upfront, but you pay with your time, and performance and control are limited. Fine for a placeholder, risky for a business that needs to convert.

Pre-made theme, professionally installed

A developer installs and customises a clean theme, sets up hosting and hands over documentation. Good value for a brochure-style site. Add hosting on top.

Custom WordPress build

A bespoke design and structure tailored to your business, with mobile-first build and basics of SEO and speed. Most small and mid-size businesses land here. Ecommerce adds to this range.

WooCommerce store

Products, checkout, payment gateway (Razorpay/UPI), shipping setup and testing. Cost climbs with catalogue size, custom features and integrations.

Custom web app

Bespoke applications, portals, dashboards or marketplaces. Priced by feature discovery, not by the page.

What to watch out for

Ask for a written scope with deliverables and timeline, a fixed price for that scope, and clear statements about what is extra: premium plugins, provider fees, hosting, content creation. The cheapest quote is rarely the cheapest result.

FAQs

Can I get a good website for Rs 10,000?

Yes, for a simple service or brochure site using a pre-made theme done well. For ecommerce or custom features, plan higher.

Why are quotes so different?

Scope differs: page count, custom design, integrations, content, training, maintenance. Compare the written scope, not the headline number.

Do I have to pay monthly for a website?

You pay hosting (Rs 500-Rs 2,000/month) and optional maintenance. There is no licence fee with WordPress, unlike SaaS platforms.
